IVS-KOM

Communication Technologies for Intelligent Transport Systems in Saxony

Introduction and Objectives

The IVS-KOM project aims at the detailed specification and implementation of a reference system for vehicle communication for connected mobility. Based on largely standardized communication technologies and protocols, the extension for cooperative highly-automated driving will be defined, implemented and tested. The exchange of aggregated sensor information (»cooperative perception«) serve as a basis for procedures for cooperative maneuver coordination and recommendations. In the design of the reference system draft, emphasis is put on the use of heterogeneous communication technologies (WLAN-11p, mobile communications, DAB+) and its integration in a hybrid integral system. It is intended to integrate the system into different platforms for vehicles and infrastructure. The results will be tested and validated within the digital test field Dresden/Saxony under the »Synchronized Mobility 2023« initiative.

European Union (European Regional Development Fund)

Contribution by the Fraunhofer IVI

The Fraunhofer IVI is responsible for the specification of the components of the reference system as well as its implementation and testing.

The institute develops components of the protocol stack and enhances them with message formats in accordance with requirements for cooperative highly-automated driving.

Furthermore, the Fraunhofer IVI equips test vehicles and participates in the planning, conduction and analysis of communication experiments. The outcomes will be verified in the laboratory as well as on the digital test field Dresden/Saxony.
